JTC 1/AG 1 is proud to announce World Standards Day (WSD) 2026.
WSD takes place on 14th October each year and is a celebration of all the effort and hard work that experts and collaborators bring together to develop standards that change and shape our lives, for the better.

This year JTC 1/AG 1’s workshops will take place on October 15th and October 16th.
See below for detailed times and agenda.

Sustainable ICT

How can sustainable ICT practices benefit both our environment and our organization?

As digital transformation accelerates, the global expansion of ICT infrastructure – ranging from always-on systems and high-performance processors to data centres requiring intensive cooling continues to drive significant increases in energy consumption and environmental impact. These trends underscore the urgent need to rethink how technology is designed, deployed, and managed.

This year, we highlight how international standards are enabling more sustainable ICT ecosystems. Through improved energy efficiency, optimized system performance, smarter workload management, and greater transparency in environmental impact, standards provide the foundation for reducing carbon footprints while maintaining reliability and innovation. By aligning technology strategies with relevant standards, organizations can not only mitigate environmental impact but also enhance operational resilience, cost efficiency, and long-term value creation.

This is also an opportunity to get involved and ask some of your burning questions.

The virtual workshops, with the assistance of IEC and ISO, will be held on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th October, and run for two to three hours each.

To accommodate our global community and enable participation in daytime hours, the two workshops are timed to target western countries and Europe, and Europe and eastern countries, 14:00 UTC and 08:00 UTC respectively.

The content for each session is different, so we recommend trying to attend both sessions.
