Committee Manager’s report

JTC 1 NXXXXX

Events

• The publication of JTC 1’s Consumer Engagement paper demonstrates how various national bodies are actively working to involve local consumer groups in standards development. These efforts were further reinforced by a compelling presentation from the Chair of ISO COPOLCO, lending strong support to the initiative.

• JTC 1 has established a new Ad Hoc Group 10 on OSD (Online Standards Development) Feedback with Sal Francomacaro (US) serving as the Convenor.

• JTC 1 AhG 8 on Succession Planning was disbanded. A decision was taken to have all JTC 1 Subcommittees and JTC 1/WGs submit a succession planning report, separate from their business plan, to each November JTC 1 Plenary, taking into account the Guidance Document on Succession Planning.

• JTC 1 agreed to host a virtual workshop on Interoperable File Formats related to 3D/4D Scanning and Printing in July 2025.

• JTC 1 agreed to convene a virtual seminar on Collaboration on Terminology and ontology associated standards for Smart Cities, supported by JTC 1/WG 11 and the IEC Academy in November 2025.

• The ToR for WG 13 was revised and an agreement to issue an NP Ballot for 31310 Part 1, Information technology – Trustworthiness ontology – Part 1: Framework, was taken.

• JTC 1 calls out to strengthen Standardization for Addressing AI Energy Consumption (for SC 42 & SC 39) – Consider new work item for “Energy-efficient AI Models” or “Green AI”
