Advisory Group 17 on Standing Document 19, Meetings
Advisory Group 17 was established by Resolution 3 of the June 2020 JTC 1 Plenary to revise Standing Document 19, Meetings. The Terms of Reference included, inter alia:
1. Review and update JTC 1 SD 19, Meetings, to better address guidance for virtual and mixed-mode meetings.
2. Review and update JTC 1 SD 19 to ensure alignment with the current Consolidated JTC 1 Supplement.
The duration of the Advisory Group was to be through the May 2021 JTC 1 Plenary.
In the interval June 2020 to May 2021, 12 virtual meetings were held with wide NB and SC participation. A draft revised Standing Document 19 was prepared for the May 2021 JTC 1 Plenary which was subsequently circulated to National Bodies for comment.
Advisory Group 17 was reconstituted in May 2021 by Resolution 8 with these Terms of Reference:
- Elaborate further on mixed-mode meeting requirements;
- Review any comments received on JTC 1 N15298 (the draft SD19) and prepare a disposition of comments document and a revised SD 19 in time for consideration at the November 2021 JTC 1 Plenary.
Consideration will also be given to the work of the TMB/SMB Joint Task Force on the New Normal which is preparing ISO/IEC guidance on meetings in the post-Covid era. At time of writing, the Advisory Group is well on its way to completing the new terms of reference. It is anticipated that a revised Standing Document 19 will be ready for balloting after the November 2021 JTC 1 Plenary.
