Events
Following six months of examination, detailed discussion and documentation, JTC 1’s ad hoc group 9 presented their findings in relation to potential scopes to support the establishment of a new subcommittee on Consumer related aspects of privacy. JTC 1 endorsed one of the options proposed by AhG 9, and agreed to establish a new subcommittee (SC 44), subject to approval by ISO/TMB and IEC/SMB:
- ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 44 Information technology – Consumer protection in the field of privacy by design
- Scope: Standardization of consumer protection in the field of privacy by design for products, goods and services, including their data lifecycles.
The UK National Body will serve as Secretariat for JTC 1/SC 44 and Jan Schallaböck (DE) will serve as JTC 1/SC 44 Chair.
JTC 1 made the following changes in leadership of SC Chairs:
- SC 6 Telecommunications and information exchange between systems sees the departure of the Chair Dr. Hyun K. Kahng and welcomes his replacement Dr. Shingak Kang.
- SC 25, Interconnection of information technology equipment sees the departure of the Chair Rainer Schmidt and welcomes his replacement Matthias Fritsche.
SC 39, Sustainability, IT and Data Centres sees the departure of the Chair David Reiner and welcomes his replacement Ricardo Gonzalez Llera.
- The work by the ad hoc group (8) on Succession planning continue to progress well. The group has been reconstituted until May 2025 and will present its final outcome of the guidance document at the May Plenary meeting.
- JTC 1 agreed to request R membership in the IEC/ISO Joint Systems Committee on Bio digital convergence and will issue a call for a JTC 1 representative.
- JTC 1 has agreed to do more work on AI and Sustainability and invited the SC 39 ‘Sustainability, IT and data centres’ and SC 42 ‘Artificial Intelligence’ to provide an update regarding the joint advisory group they have established at the next Plenary.
- IEC Rep within ITTF is changing from Stephen Dutnall to Mads Thomsen.
