Standard technologies for connection and integration of the real world into virtual worlds is a key requirement for the metaverse. An important goal of the metaverse is to provide more profuse human life experiences by extending the real world to virtual worlds. The attainment of this goal is supported by having standardized information and communication technologies (ICT) for integration between real and virtual worlds, and in ICT and industry areas. ISO/IEC JTC 1 has been developing standards over many years and on an on-going basis that are currently relevant to implementing the metaverse in various industries.
This document describes JTC 1 standards and standardization that can be used in the complete and all-encompassing range of metaverse areas.
